The organization of events throughout Italy contributes to increasing awareness about EURES and enhances the visibility of the Network; these events include Job Days and Job Fairs open to all those people who are interested in or simply curious about mobility in Europe.

The aim is to increase awareness in users about the available services and as a consequence increase the EURES service offer to respond to the ever growing demand from the  European Labour market. Particularly significant are the communication activities and those for the promotion of mobility that involve jobseekers and employers.

The Job fair IoLavoro (Iwork) is open to jobseekers and companies and has the purpose of  improving the matching of supply and demand. It is organized by the Piedmont Employment Agency, promoted by the Piedmont Region and financed by the European Social Fund. With the participation of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, Job Centres from the Province of Turin and from the Valle d’Aosta Region, Liguria Employment Agency, French Employment Services Pôle-Emploi from the Rhône-Alpes Region, the EURES network and Inps.

In addition to the hospitality and wellness sectors, the fair has now opened to the agri-food sector, large-scale distribution, ICT and digital and retail.

During the event it is possible to take part in workshops, seminars and job placement services: companies are offered an original and functional format for their recruiting activities. IoLavoro offers a fully equipped exhibition area, where companies can meet candidates, as well as a conference room where presentations and/or group selections can be held. The event is promoted on the website and through the dissemination of information and promotional material. The EURES Village within the event hosts EURES Advisers from many European countries and offers job opportunities in all sectors.

The edition held in october 2013 gave record results: approximately 12,500 people took part,  over 6,000 job opportunities were on offer in Italy and abroad, with the participation of around one hundred companies as well as the Italian and other European public employment services.

The Orientamenti (careers guidance) project is part of the ABCD exhibition, the Education Fair in Genoa, and focuses on training proposals for young people aged 13-18. It is organized by the Liguria Region, the Province and the University of Genoa, together with other national institutions, with the purpose of offering young people the necessary tools and information to be able to make informed, motivated choices regarding school, university, training and their future careers.

The event comprises three intensive days of forums, seminars, conferences, workshops, laboratories and demonstrations, targeting teachers, school administrators, students, educators and trainers and involving the worlds of education, business and career guidance, with the aim of fostering effective, consolidated, exchangeable and recognizable actions.

One of the objectives of the event is to reinforce the visibility of EURES throughout the regions, as well as set up partnerships with other networks and actors (universities, high schools, school offices etc.).

The last edition of the ABCD+Orientamenti was held at the Genoa Exhibition centre in november 2014. All young people have had the opportunity to register online for the laboratories and fix personal appointments for training guidance interviews with teachers and experts.
In addition, the Fair has hosted the first European Job Day in Italy, the recruitment event organized by EURES to facilitate mobility in Europe and provide practical information on job opportunities and living and working conditions in all Member States.

JOBOrienta is a career fair characterized by the wealth of proposals and the high level of cultural appointments: conferences, round tables and workshops, with numerous keynote speakers.

The exhibition-conference is organized in two thematic areas: the first dedicated to the world of education that includes JOBScuola, JOBItinere, ExpoLingue, JOBEducational and MultimediaJOB; the second to university, training and work with the sessions “pianeta università” (planet university), “arti, mestieri e professioni” (arts, crafts and professions) and TopJOB. Thanks to the participation of JOBInternational, there is a special focus on courses, training and employment abroad.

During the previous three-day events, numerous young people were able to find out about the many education and training opportunities available (professional training, technical schools, high schools, new university departments) as well as new employment trends (profiles and skills most sought after by companies). They also had the chance of taking part in the following career guidance activities: team working simulations, business games, aptitude tests and encounters with experts and entrepreneurs.

The fair is held at the Verona Exhibition Centre in november. The coming event will be held from 20st to 22rd  november 2014.

The International Career Day is a whole day devoted to those looking for and those offering work abroad. It is the first and only career day of its kind in Italy. The event is held in Milan and targets under-graduates and new graduates looking for work, and young professionals who are interested in working in an international environment.

During the day, presentations are made by the various participating companies, and meetings are held that focus on issues involving multiple stakeholders from the working world. There are numerous stands where jobseekers can personally meet company representatives and hand in their CVs.

One of the strong points of the event is the presence of the EURES stand, for the promotion of job mobility in Europe. During the course of the last edition, the EURES team, from Milan, focused on mobility in France, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Sweden and Denmark, with Advisers from the various Member States providing counseling and general information.

The next edition will be held in Milan on 25th november 2014.

Bio Pharma Day targets new science graduates. Research and training companies, as well as institutions in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sector, have been involved for five years, with the aim of establishing direct contact with new graduates and young professionals in this sector. The event has grown over the years and starting from this year, an effort has been made to give more visibility to research, with the participation of institutes and universities from all over Europe.

The event targets students, undergraduates and new graduates, as well as young professionals who are about to take or have taken a three-year/ specialist degree or a research degree in: Life sciences, Biotechnologies, CTF, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Biomedical engineering, Medicine and surgery. The event gives participants the opportunity of meeting managers from leading companies, international research and training institutes, biomedical, healthcare and pharmaceutical institutes.

The next edition will be held in Rome on 26th november 2014.

Career Day in Cattolica is an opportunity for participants to speak to high profile professionals from a variety of sectors, from Italy and abroad, to further their knowledge, to establish new contacts and to understand employers’ needs in specific the sectors, such as the agri-food sector. The event is entirely dedicated to work and offers young people the opportunity of meeting HR managers from companies looking to recruit, as well as of making use of other services such as CV check, personal interviews and Training Point services, real professional advice to address the best career choices.

The event proved to be an excellent show case for the EURES network, both at national and European level (also thanks to the participation of the EURES Advisers from other Member States), offering many services in English, among which career guidance, seminars, training activities (advice on how to prepare a CV to send to another Member State and how to sit an interview in Engish etc.) as well as counseling.

Lavoro e Turismo is a job fair for the tourism sector. The only one of its kind, this event held in Bari aims to become an annual appointment for all companies looking to recruit qualified personnel and for all those young people that want to take up a career in this sector.

Lavoro e Turismo
targets companies in the tourism sector—hospitality, tour operators—as well as high-school leavers, under-graduates or graduates interested in working in this field as well as public bodies and institutions.

Experts from the sector (national and international) are invited to participate in conferences and debates. The main purpose of the event being to prepare the new work force to face the challenges of the market effectively.

The international dimension is ensured by the presence of the EURES network. The last edition, held in Bari in march 2014, offered young people the opportunity of meeting employers, of participating in workshops and seminars, during which foreign EURES Advisers explained how to make the most of the available tools when looking for a job abroad.

Job Day Unipg is promoted by the University of Perugia to foster closer interaction between the academic world and national and local businesses. The event is an opportunity for students and graduates to submit their CVs and to talk to managers and find out more about the participating companies. Numerous low cost services are made  available for recruitment purposes, including the possibility to use rooms for workshops, individual meetings and meetings on specific topics, company presentations and laboratories.

During the event it is possible to:
  • ask questions directly to the companies about the opportunities on offer, the types of contract, career opportunities abroad, and market trends
  • hand in your CV to the company representatives present at the event
  • take part in company presentations
  • have the opportunity of sitting one of the one-to-one interviews held during the day

Università Aperta (Open University) is a service offered, free of charge, by the University of Padua to students and graduates. It is an opportunity for open discussion between the academic and business worlds as well as an occasion to inform companies and organizations of the professional profiles of young people graduating from the University. Thus enhancing the potential that originates and develops within the academic environment.  The event is organized by the Traineeship and Career Service of the University of Padua.

A large contribution was made by EURES thanks to the presence of Advisers from the many European Countries, as well as those from Italy. Numerous students and graduates were interviewed by EURES Advisers.

Recruitment within the framework of the Dual Vocational Training project for IT, tourism and mechanic jobs

In March 2014, various recruitment events took place around Italy aimed at short-listing suitable candidates to begin the  “Dual Vocational Training” in Germany. The project is part of The Job of my life initiative and offers young people the opportunity of a job on an apprenticeship contract in Germany that involves in-company and college vocational training. In fact, in many industrial sectors in Germany people are employed on an apprenticeship contract that provides this type of dual training.

Recruitment in the field of medicine and life sciences: Work in Denmark EURES

An information and recruitment campaign was held from 21st to 25th October 2013 that involved workers from the medical sector as well as those qualified in life sciences. The five one-day events were held in the cities of Padua, Milan, Ancona, Bari and Rome. With this initiative Workindenmark (the official Danish advice and career guidance service  for International recruitment) and the EURES Network continue to build on their existing collaboration.

Employers were looking for:  Psychiatrists, Specialists in Urology and Gynecology, Gastroenterologists, Cardiologists, Endocrinologists, Urologists, Gynecologists, Anesthetists, Anatomy-pathologists, Specialists in Internal Medicine, Scientific Researchers, Chemical engineers, Chemists, Consultants in HSE (Health, Security and Environment), Laboratory Technicians, Specialists in Patent and Regulatory Affairs.

During each of the events, the Danish Eures Adviser provided information and practical advice on living and working in Denmark, as well as detailed information regarding the jobs on offer.  

Fareturismo is the national tourism industry event with key focuses on training, work and tourism policy.
During the three day event, employment, training and vocational guidance opportunities are made available to:

  • Students and others interested in working in the tourism industry
  • People employed in the tourism industry
  • School teachers and university professors

During the event it is possible to:

  • Sit an interview with HR managers from some of the most important tourism companies
  • Participate in career guidance activities as well as post diploma and post graduate training (activities organized by various institutions, bodies, national sector organizations, professional associations, universities and post-graduate schools as well as employment agencies and web recruiting agencies)
  • Participate in meetings, conferences and seminars on the labour market, specific professional requirements, in-school and academic training, setting up a business and internships.

Influential managers from the tourism industry are invited to participate in the event to talk about the roles and skills needed in the industry.
The employment services of the Province of Rome and members of the EURES Network conduct vocational guidance interviews, during which they provide information on their service offer.

The event took place in Rome from March 12th to 14th 2014.
The
upcoming events will take place in Milan from April 2nd to  4th 2014 and in Salerno from April 29th to 30th 2014.
